The Area

Rochehaut & wider Bouillon region

Perched high above the Semois valley, Rochehaut is a small Ardennes village with big views. Stone houses, quiet lanes and a laid-back atmosphere give it that timeless village feel, while the surrounding hills and forests make it a perfect base for exploring the region. Just below the village lies Frahan, tucked into a sweeping bend of the river, one of the most beautiful views in the Ardennes.

Nearby activities

There’s plenty to see and do around Rochehaut, from exploring the Ardennes to discovering local sights, walks and activities. None of these are required, and they’re not included in the convention price; they’re simply options within easy reach that we recommend checking out during your stay.

We’ll also be organising a few of these activities as a group. If you’d like to join us, keep an eye on the schedule on the Events page for the activities we’ll be heading out for together.

Pick what takes your fancy, or simply stay at the house and enjoy the weekend at your own pace.

  • Rochehaut Beer

    Rochehaut Brewery

    In the village

Rochehaut’s own beers are best enjoyed slowly, whether alongside a meal or simply on their own. The brewery’s restaurant serves hearty grills and other dishes, with fresh beer flowing straight from the vats to the taps.

A pretty short journey from brewery to glass, and a good excuse to try a local brew while you’re here.

  • Wildlife Park Deer

    Wildlife park

    In the village

The wildlife park, located at the entrance to Rochehaut village, is home to some 40 species, including farm animals, forest game and more unusual, exotic specimens.

  • Rochehaut Train

    Little Train

    In the village

The two small trains have three carriages in total, with comfortable seating. In winter, the glass windows are re-fitted to the carriages of one of the trains to shelter you from the elements.

  • Agricultural Museum

    Agricultural Museum

    In the village

The agricultural museum is not just about farming but about all the VILLAGE TRADES. It is also home to a wonderful collection of old tools from rural Ardennes, possibly the only collection of its kind in Europe. Behind the scenes, an IMPRESSIVE MECHANISM operates several old farming machines. A sight not to be missed!

Nearby Hikes & Attractions

The Ardennes around Rochehaut are full of trails, viewpoints and little places worth exploring. From an easy stroll through the valley to a longer hike with a view, there’s plenty nearby for those who fancy stretching their legs.

We’ll organise a few group outings, so check the Events page for the schedule if you’d like to join us. Of course, there’s no pressure to go anywhere.

The route is six kilometres from the church, following paths and ladders bolted into the rock. The tourist office grades it difficult and reckons three hours, with 310 m of climbing.
